This was the man – BUFORD PUSSER – the man who became the target of many assassination attempts – one of which took the life of his wife and left him emotionally and physically scarred. Murder of Mrs. Aug. Pusser was shot multiple times but survived. On Aug. Permanently disfigured, Pusser underwent numerous reconstructive surgeries to mend his battered face and crushed jaw. With a friend, he visits a gambling and prostitution establishment, the Lucky Spot, and is beaten up after catching the house cheating at craps.
